Women’s fashion has drastically changed over the years. The mode of dressing back in the days was totally different and for those who love speaking in regard to respect for people around them, this is the time when people would know respect in context and content. No mini skirts, no bikinis or walking half naked was known, but this over time has changed. Well, back in the 1800s formal dresses and gowns were the mode of dressing for women and this was regardless of their social classes. It was until the turn of the century that women decided to stray from all the formalism and embraced dresses that less full and also classy. Women and pants back in the 1800 remains a question to many. Most women living at this time preferred dresses since they felt they accentuated their feminine appeal. A dress is able to showcase how the body of the woman is from top to bottom. They would wear dresses while working in the field but then, they would prefer wearing pants while riding horses. Any woman on a horse was expected to be in a pant. However, the choice of wearing pants became almost a must to every woman towards the end of the 1800 since every woman would actually wear pants.
The trend came to being in that they would now wear dresses, skirts and pants at the same time. I mean, thy probably felt comfortable being in all. This happened as fashion became a trend to be embraced by all. Women wanted to feel updated and as much as they loved the feminine feel all the time, they somehow needed a change. Fashion like we know can change even the unwilling and it was happening gradually in 1800s.
Let’s now look at the history of fashion in 1800. Women commonly wore long dresses that consisted of puffy sleeves and full skirts. There were undergarments that were worn under these clothes which enhanced the shape of their bodies. Chemises were one of the most worn one pieces of undergarment which had both a top and bottom. Corsets were other types of undergarments that were used to cover the chest area and at times were used to support breasts. At times they would wear petticoats underneath their dresses or skirts whose purpose was concealing of the lower part of the body of a woman. In the middle of 1800, women’s dressing was as well vast. At this time you would not find women in pants. However, they would wear pantlettes in the mid 1800s. However, as time went by, the code kind of changed especially on the puffy sleeves which started fading out. Women would accessorize their wearing with gloves and hats.
This is a fashion that lots of women loved. The accessories helped them look more stunning. The end of the 19th century found women with puffy sleeves coming back though this time they were a bit advanced. However, the puffy sleeves did not last long since they faded after some time when they decided to start embracing what we have today. Petticoats were also largely worn but like puffy sleeves, they became less popular. Dresses and gowns worn for evening events were made with lower necklines and at the same time, skirts took over which were a bit airy and comfortable to walk and have at any time for women at the time. However, you will find some people today who actually still value the wearing of puffy sleeved gowns but mostly; they are enhanced by movie makers.Google+
